Long time no see !! I have been quite busy with all the paperwork for my visa, and I also found a « job » in England for two weeks, starting on Thursday. I’ll have to accompany French kids to Tunnbridge Wells (Kent) and there look after them. The pay is not really good but I don’t care since I’ll get to visit London (at laaast), Brighton, Hastings, and Tunnbridge Wells surroundings. These two weeks in England before my departure to California will be the opportunity to speak with the English accent I so desperately managed to achieve, before losing it to an American accent…
I’m quite eager to leave to England, because last week I went to the only gig Blur performed in France. It was the best gig ever, the first one where I could sing (or rather shout???) all time long (no more voice after that) and the atmosphere was so crazy!! Moreover, there “only” were 4.500 people, while there were 50.000 at Hyde Park, so that the band was pretty close to the public (Albarn slammed three times, Graham Coxon went a bit crazy with his guitar) and in the end, when all the people had thrown their cushions (it was an antique theatre) on stage, the band played with the public by throwing them back. They made two encore, played more than 25 songs, the show lasted 2 hours… well it was more than awesome! They made me desperately want to go to England, a craze I had lost while at the university in Romania, because the teaching was so boring that I had even lost interest in the language itself… Now I also wish they would do a new album. There’s no way they definitely split up, their comeback was so great and successful, and they seemed to enjoy being together on stage so much…
Then I’m leaving for California on August 23d, where I am to land at Los Angeles (this piece of information doesn’t connect to my brain yet). I will leave in a host family for about 4 days before moving in into my dorm room in Claremont. I have to choose three classes to attend to, and, as I will do my Master in France as well (the internet can be such a useful tool), I’ll choose courses that are not related to what I do in France. I saw they had plenty of stuff about Asian American Studies and Asian Civilizations, so that I’ll try to get those ones. I cannot wait to go to England and then to California!!
Concerning the drawing rate, well, not so much inspiration lately (I barely listen to music and barely watch movies right now… so, I don’t know when I will post some new stuff!
